Apply for a Bureau of Emerging Leaders DO Day Scholarship

Want to attend DO Day and get involved in advocacy efforts? Consider applying for a 2024 scholarship.

The application deadline for the 2024 DO Day scholarship has passed.

The Bureau of Emerging Leaders’ DO Day Scholarship Program provides opportunities for osteopathic residents, fellows and new physicians in practice to attend DO Day on Capitol Hill, set to be held on April 13-14 (virtual) and April 17-18 (in-person), 2024.

As the osteopathic profession’s largest public policy and advocacy event of the year, hosted in conjunction with National Osteopathic Medicine (NOM) Week, DO Day offers unmatched opportunities to hone your leadership skills and raise your voice to educate members of Congress on the issues that matter most to you and your patients.

Scholarship Details

The program provides scholarships for up to two residents, fellows and new physicians in practice (those within five years of graduating from their residency or fellowship program) to participate in DO Day, covering the cost of registration for the event and a travel stipend for up to $1,500. This scholarship program is sponsored in part by the American Osteopathic Information Association.

Who are we looking to award this scholarship to?

We are looking for osteopathic physicians in training and new physicians in practice who want to become more involved in medical advocacy. This includes those who may have some experience locally or in medical school, but have lacked the resources or opportunities to step up to the national stage as a resident, fellow or new physician. This also includes those without any firsthand experience, who have a desire and passion to help improve the medical field in our country, and need a helping hand to take that next step.

Previous Winners

Read what previous scholarship winners have to say about their DO Day experiences and why advocacy matters to them.

  • Jorge Gutierrez, DO, MPH

“As a Latin American immigrant and a soon-to-be family medicine physician, it is important to support our osteopathic medical profession because it will impact the care we provide to communities in need.”

  • Lilian Gobrial, DO

“I was so happy and honored to receive the scholarship. Attending the events was exciting, as it was my first time. I was so happy to meet the legislators at the House and the Senate and to engage in discussion about various points. The student leader Ryan Williamson was so welcoming, and he made sure we knew where to go and what to do. I would recommend all DO residents and practicing physicians to attend DO Day and apply for this scholarship. It was such a wonderful experience and an honor to be there.”
