The BEL represents the interests of osteopathic medical students, resident physicians, fellows and new physicians in practice.

The American Osteopathic Association’s Bureau of Emerging Leaders (BEL) is the representative body and advocate for all osteopathic medical students, osteopathic physicians in postdoctoral training, and early career osteopathic physicians.

The following BEL members represent osteopathic medical students, residents and new physicians on the AOA Board of Trustees.

Sarah J. Wolff, DO

Sarah J. Wolff, DO, currently serves as the AOA’s New Physician in Practice member. She is the current chair of the AOA Bureau of Emerging Leaders and serves as the Director of Clinical Curriculum and Assistant Faculty in the Department of Family Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific-Northwest in Lebanon, Oregon.

Maria D. Jones, DO

Maria Jones, DO, currently serves as the Postdoctoral Trainee member of the AOA Board of Trustees. She is a current PGY-2 in combined Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine residency at ChristianaCare in Newark, Delaware. She graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in May 2021.

Caelin Smith, OMS III

Caelin Smith, OMS III, currently serves as the student member representative on the AOA Board of Trustees. She is a third-year osteopathic medical student attending Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Virginia. Student Doctor Smith represents the voice of the osteopathic medical student community and serves as the student representative on the AOA’s Public Relations Committee.

Kevin V. de Regnier, DO

Dr. de Regnier is an AOA board-certified osteopathic family physician who currently serves as the Chair of the AOA Membership department, which oversees the Bureau of Emerging Leaders. He is in private practice with Madison County Medical Associates of Winterset, Iowa, and is a distinguished fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
